Huia Max

 

Huia Max (Ngāti Maniapoto, Rereahu, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa) is an emerging Māori actor, Te Reo Māori educator, and youth worker.

A graduate of Te Tohu Paetahi Full Imersion Te Reo Māori at Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato, recent credits include Tuakiritea (co-writer and performer), The Swing (directed by Jim Moriarty), TakiRua’s Te Reo Māori Season, and Young & Hungry’s nationwide schools tour. She enjoys delivering workshops and kaupapa Māori programmes in kura and community spaces around the motu.

In 2023, Huia received the Tūngia Baker & Taki Rua Emerging Māori Actor Scholarship and was nominated for Best Actor at the NZ Youth Film Festival. She is currently a student at Te Wānanga o Raukawa, continuing her lifelong commitment to Te Reo Māori me Ōna Tikanga. Huia brings a strong sense of purpose to roles that centre rangatahi and Te Ao Māori.
