Elz Carrad

Elz (Te Whakatōhea and Te Aitanga-A-Mahaki) booked the lead role of Caz Davis in the award-winning series, Rūrangi after his third audition, ever.

Off the back of the first season, Elz was listed by Stuff as one of the top 20 New Zealanders (alongside prestigious company such as Jacinda Adern, Dr Ashley Bloomfield and Israel Adesanya) and was nominated for best actor at the 2021 NZ Television Awards. Rūrangi enjoyed two successful seasons, screened internationally, and was awarded an Emmy in 2022 for Best Short Form Series.

Beyond Rūrangi, Elz continues to pursue diverse roles that make a meaningful contribution and challenge societal norms. He achieved this with his most recent television role, playing opposite Peter Mullan in the brave and morally complex NZ/AU co-production, After The Party, for which he was the winner of the Best Supporting Actor award at the 2024 NZTV Awards.
