Kura Turuwhenua
Kura Turuwhenua (Ngāti Porou, Ngāi Tūhoe, Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Te Wairoa, Moriori) made a splash in her first year on the comedy circuit, being recognised by the NZ Raw Comedy Quest in 2022, and winning both Outstanding Comedy and Outstanding Newcomer at the 2022 Auckland Fringe Festival. In 2023 she went on to win Best Comedy Newcomer at the Comedy Guild Awards.
She produces and directs her own comedic short films and her appealing and hilarious take on the world has lead to her materials going viral multiple times on both TikTok and Instagram.
Kura is also a credited writer for popular panel show 7 Days, has a sitcom in development, and is currently the co-host of two high rating podcasts.
